MERDEKA: What Are The Thing That Make Malaysian People Exciting During This Independence Day Period?

Well independence day of Malaysia is just an hour away from the time this article is published but really, I don't feel any of the spirit of "merdeka" at all. Well the political leader said during this bad time, we should cut our budget and have a moderate celebration for Malaysia 51st annual independence day.

That statement was kinda strange as only few days ago, the government spent a huge amount of money in preparation for the Permatang Pauh Parliamentary Seat Election which took place on 26th August.(result:opposition party won by huge majority of vote).

Anyway as i was saying, I don't feel my country celebrating our 51st independence day at all. In my opinion, there are other things that make Malaysian more exciting than celebrating our independence day.

1. Anwar Ibrahim.

This name certainly is the name that I heard most often in the past month or so. He is said to be Malaysia next Prime Minister(by Party Keadilan Rakyat and Anwar himself). He just won a Parliamentary seat election few days ago and for the second time in 10 years, he will be charged. His name even appeared in the Al Gore web site so no wonder Malaysia people exciting about him.

2. European football

European football started few weeks ago and it got most of the Malaysian into a frenzy state again. After 3 long months of absence, European football finally started a new season. European football especially English football is well beloved by Malaysian. I drove back from my office an hour ago and i didn't see any Malaysian celebrating Merdeka but i saw plenty of football fan sitting at "mamak" stall and watching EPL football matches.

Well it's sad to say some Malaysian care about English Football more than our own country independence day but that's true. Some say when you love a country you do not need to say it loud instead you should keep it in the deepest place in your heart but i doubt those Malaysian will ever do so.
